Mission Statement

Provide physical therapy-based easy-to-follow tips and information designed to make daily care easier and safer for anyone responsible for the care of someone with special needs due to age, illness, disease, surgery, etc…

Honesty, integrity, safety and easy consistent handling techniques during transfers, bed mobility, daily care and the use of medical equipment.

My Goal

Caregivers, both with and without medical background, want and/or need to learn how to improve his/her ability to provide care.  However, the window of opportunity to observe or interact with Physical Therapists in all settings (Skilled Nursing Facility, Residential Homes, Assisted Living, Long-Term Care) is limited by careers out-of-the-home or hectic schedules. Tips From A PT.com will strive to bridge that gap.

  1. Hi, Shawna. My parents are entering the stage of life where they are going to need extra care with daily duties. I look forward for more updates and tips on how I can do this.
    Kind regards,

    1. Hi Jeff,
There are so many family members entering the state of life where the roles are changing and the caregiver becomes the younger generation. I developed this website with this and many other realizations in mind.

As a Home Health PT, most of the primary caregivers are working and not able to be in the home where their loved one is receiving care. Therefore, the opportunity to learn how to do simple things like “getting out of bed, standing up from a rocking recliner, transfer from the floor, and see fast/effective exercises to help with swelling, healing from a surgery, etc” is very limited. With this website, caregivers can watch videos, ask specific questions, learn how Physical Therapists in the home accomplish goals, and do all this from the convenience of their phone, computer or mobile device without compromising their jobs.

Should you have a specific questions or need me to make a video on a topic not already available on this website, please feel free to contact me.

I wish you the best of health for you and loved ones.

      Shawna PT, MPT
